& We’re Here to Help
It doesn’t matter if it happened one time or 100 times. If it happened 20 minutes ago or 20 years ago. It could be emotional, verbal, financial, physical, or sexual. You may not even know what to call it. And that’s okay- no matter what, we’re here to help you.
WHW offers support services to help you plan for your safety, answer legal questions, connect you with services like housing, and advocate by your side as you recover from dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
24/7 Hotline
WHW is deeply grateful to its founders, who, in 1973, launched the agency’s first initiative by establishing a 24/7 hotline. This hotline aimed to assist survivors of gender-based violence by answering their questions and guiding them through the challenging process. What started as a few volunteers plugging a phone into a wall and setting up a cot to take shifts to answer the hotline is now a full-time operation answered by expertly trained advocates answering over 18,000 calls a year.
We provide critical crisis intervention and listen with empathy and compassion to survivors, friends, and family. Advocates also provide referrals to appropriate community services. Language Line interpretation services are also free for non-English-speaking callers.
